STS Highlights May 2024
STS Highlights: May 2024
Sometimes these paragraphs flow quickly and seamlessly as I write. Other times, it takes hours of meandering to settle on a theme and message. This month, it’s more of the latter. It’s National Bike Month and National Mental Health Awareness Month both of which I’ve discussed previously. I’m a big proponent of these causes and hope the consistent, annual
awareness produces positive change.
May is our path between spring and summer. As an old saying goes, “A warm January brings a cold May.” I’m not sure these pieces of folklore ring true, but we’ll know soon enough. The change in weather for the better makes May the perfect season
for rest and relaxation. Many schools (and school employees) are counting down the days until summer break! The school year is winding down and it is almost time to relax and enjoy some time off.
We are also coming into what I commonly refer to as the “Conference Season.” If you are able, you should attend your nearest conference and trade show. Pupil Transportation conferences focus on current issues, offer training, provide networking
opportunities, and host engaging sessions that ultimately improve the industry and those working in and alongside it.
The goal with these monthly resources is always to convey a few public service announcements (PSAs) and to help elevate your career, department, or organization. As always, we take pride in helping you meet your training needs and goals.
From Spring to Summer,
Patrick

May is National Bike Month
May is National Bike Month, promoted by the League of American Bicyclists and celebrated in communities from coast to coast. As an avid cyclist I truly understand the importance of the awareness this campaign brings. Remember to be aware of your surroundings while driving and safely share the road with pedestrians, bicyclists, motorcycles, school buses, and other automobiles.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month
Since its inception in 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been a cornerstone of addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions.
